There are other parallels. Wisconsin had to stun a rival its fans hate -- Minnesota -- to get to Indianapolis. The Packers had to eliminate a rival its fans loathe -- Seattle -- to earn their trip to Santa Clara.
Bucky bested Goldy but was the prohibitive underdog against Brutus, and lost. The Packers dispatched the No-We're-Not-Ripping-Off-The-"12"-Thing-And-How-Dare-You-Even-IMPLY-That squad and are clear underdogs against the 49ers, and ... well what happens happens.
There isn't much that would make me happier than to see Green Bay get to the Super Bowl. But a lot of very smart people agree the odds are slim. With good reason. Still, it's nice to see the Packers get as far as they have, and while today seems destined to bring with it a fair amount of anguish, I'll enjoy the experience.
But that's me. Your results may vary.
